Stop 1
The Observation Tower
Built in the 1930s by the WPA, this tower gives visitors a bird's-eye view of the falls — the same view the city's founders saw when they decided to build here.
Stop 2
Queen Bee Mill Ruins
Opened in 1881, the Queen Bee Mill was one of the most technologically advanced flour mills of its era. A fire in 1956 destroyed the interior — only its stunning quartzite walls remain.
Stop 3
The Footbridge
An average of 7,400 gallons of water flow over the Big Sioux River falls every second. Standing on the footbridge in spring, you can feel the mist from over 30 feet away.
Stop 4
The Historic Water Tower
Built in 1916, this tower held 50,000 gallons of water and kept the city's water pressure steady before modern pumping systems existed. It's one of only a handful remaining in South Dakota.

Sitting above a 100-foot drop, the Falls Overlook Café has one of the most dramatic restaurant views in the Midwest. You've earned a coffee — or something stronger.
